Source data safety

Learn how to protect raw data, back up data, and data privacy.

Source data is the foundation of your analysis and reporting. Protecting source data safety prevents work interruptions due to accidental loss or corruption.

IMD records version history through the History function, but you still need to take appropriate backup measures.

Raw data

Raw data files are saved in the project folder. Do not directly modify raw data files to avoid confusing version history.

If you need to modify raw data, back up first or use IMD's export function to create a copy.

Back up data

Regularly back up the project folder to external storage or cloud storage. Backup frequency depends on how often data changes.

IMD's History function retains version history, but this is not a substitute for long-term backups.

Data privacy

Ensure project folder permission settings are correct to prevent unauthorized access, especially for projects containing sensitive data.

If sharing a computer is necessary, lock the screen or sign out when leaving.
