Basic charts
Learn how to generate charts, select chart types, and download charts.
Charts help you quickly understand data distribution and relationships. Before cleaning data or asking AI, generate a chart to verify the data shape matches expectations.
IMD supports multiple chart types and can generate charts from the current data table or specified fields.
Generate a chart
Choose to generate a chart from the chart menu or toolbar. Specify the fields to analyze and the chart type, then generate.
A good chart clearly shows one specific aspect of the data. Avoid putting too much information in a single chart.
Chart types
IMD supports common chart types: bar charts (suitable for category comparisons), line charts (suitable for time series), scatter plots (suitable for relationship analysis), and histograms (suitable for distribution viewing).
Choose a chart type based on the question you are answering. For example, use a bar chart for comparing category sizes and a histogram for viewing value distributions.
Download charts
After generating a chart, use the download option to save the chart as an image file. Charts are saved to the project's assets folder.
Downloaded charts can be used in reports or shared with others. Choose an appropriate resolution for your purpose.
